Understanding space as a storytelling medium, my work explores different ways of displaying objects and narratives, transgressing traditional museum practices and establishing exhibition design as a determining factor in the conception of interpretive spaces. I have designed exhibitions at numerous cultural institutions internationally.
I have focused most of my career on the museums field and the design of narrative spaces. Currently, I am the creative director of Exhibition Design at the Art Institute of Chicago, where I lead the design of temporary and permanent exhibitions, as well as other public spaces in the museum. Prior to joining the Art Institute, I was part of the design team at Ralph Appelbaum Associates in New York, where I collaborated on the inception and conceptualization of museums such as the Museo Nacional de Energía y Tecnología (MUNET) and the Museo Ruta de Plata. In Mexico City, I was part of the design team at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo and the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco.
Through my independent practice, SPACE AS NARRATIVE, I have collaborated and designed exhibitions at multiple institutions such as The Detroit Institute of Arts, Museo Nacional de la Revolución Mexicana (CDMX), Museo Amparo (Puebla), Mexican Cultural Institute (NY), Museo del Objeto (CDMX), Museo Nacional de Arte (CDMX).
